What to Know Before Applying
Think you're ready to apply? Check out these key insights first!
The Black Women’s Business Retreat has been designed for experienced business professionals who have a clear vision of how they would like to launch, expand, or scale their business or who wish to grow as industry leaders. Participants will be joining a network of highly capable and established influencers and should, therefore, be able to articulate how they will contribute to the group’s body of expertise.
In preparation for this experience, participants will engage in six once-monthly webinars to begin working through some of the key areas in which black women tend to struggle when considering the next step in their business goals. Topics will include developing a business plan, intercultural communication, sourcing raw materials, emerging markets, ethical business practices, social media for business, and wellness practices. Participants are expected to attend and fully participate in the webinars leading up to the travel date in order to adequately prepare for the experience.

Power Webinars

Personal Reflection
Have you given yourself the space and time you need to reflect on where you are in your professional life? Are you feeling trapped in the corporate rat race? Have you given up on your entrepreneurial dreams? This session is designed to help you clear the mental fog and gain focus on how to live into professional goals. Moderated by Òman Baako's Executive Director, Danielle Taylor.

Black Women's Wellness
Black women carry the long-term stress and fatigue of sexualized and racialized trauma. When compounded with the everyday challenges and expectations of life, its easy to understand why so many of us forget to care for ourselves. In this session, we discuss the importance of being kind and gentle with our minds and bodies and practice some techniques!

Global Communications and the Ethics of International Business
We may share a historical narrative, but the culture and day-to-day lived experiences of black women from Africa and the African diaspora vary significantly. Being suddenly subjected to an unfamiliar way of life or set of attitudes can be jarring. In this session, participants will be introduced to some of these differences and will be coached on how to navigate them successfully during the retreat.
